CONCORD ORIGINALS

Concord Originals is Concord’s narrative content creation division. The team develops and produces stories anchored by Concord’s artists, music and theatrical works. Concord Originals takes a proactive, narrative-driven approach to each project and partners with A-list storytellers to produce premium content for screen and beyond. The division’s slate is comprised of feature films, series, documentaries and podcasts, including remakes and re-imaginings of properties from Concord’s iconic portfolio.

Concord Originals executive produced Billie, a documentary about Billie Holiday which premiered at Telluride Film Festival in 2019. The division is in development on several major screen projects based on iconic musicals by Rodgers & Hammerstein: a TV series reimagining of Oklahoma!, which Concord Originals is producing alongside Skydance TV, a remake of The King and I with Temple Hill at Paramount Pictures and a contemporary take on Flower Drum Song with Daniel Dae Kim’s 3AD and Janet Yang Productions. Recently announced projects include a scripted limited series adaptation of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella with Skydance TV and Nuyorican Productions as part of a larger partnership established earlier in 2022; a multi-part docuseries about the legendary Stax Records for HBO which is executive produced by Academy Award® winner Ezra Edelman; and two documentary features in production with White Horse Pictures that Concord Originals has co-financed (Shari & Lamb Chop and an untitled biopic about celebrated musician, Billy Preston).
