Karyn Rachtman, Founder & CEO
Karyn Rachtman is an entertainment industry entrepreneur best known as an acclaimed music supervisor. She is also an award-winning film producer and creator of HIP KID HOP, a New York Times best-selling line of “read-and-rap-along” children’s books.
Having been responsible for some of the most beloved soundtracks of all time, Rachtman has earned her reputation as one of the most significant music supervisors in the film industry. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with filmmakers such as Baz Luhrmann, Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, Warren Beatty and more.
Rachtman is renowned for her distinct ability to create unlikely collaborations between artists – like Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach for the film Grace of My Heart, and Pras, ODB, and Mya on the chart-topping single “Ghetto Superstar”. Karyn’s expertise lies in tying music to all forms of media not only in her work on classic films like Pulp Fiction, Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet, Clueless, and Boogie Nights, but also in her work curating for labels, advertising agencies, and brands. In addition to Rachtman running Mind Your Music, she has extensive experience in the corporate environments, having served as Vice President of Soundtracks and A&R at Capitol Records and Head of Soundtracks at Interscope. Currently, she divides her time between New Zealand and Los Angeles.
