Previous Head Of Analytics, Amazon Prime Video, Paul Gathercole, joins Utopia Music

Prior to Amazon, Gathercole spent time at Universal Music Group where he built the Global Data Science team

Stockholm, 7th September 2021 Utopia has announced the appointment of Paul Gathercole as Chief Data Officer.

Based in London, Gathercole will report directly to Utopia CEO Markku Mäkeläinen.

Gathercole is a proven data leader with a strong background at the intersection of technology, media and analytics. He has vast experience building multi-functional teams in both blue-chip companies and start-ups.

He joins Utopia from Amazon where he led the EU Commercial Insights function, before founding the team responsible for Prime Video’s global metric governance and data layer.

Prior to Amazon, Gathercole spent time at Universal Music Group where he built the Global Data Science team, providing UMG’s labels and companies with tools and insights enabling better and faster decision-making.

His speciality is smart data interpretation and turning data into valuable insights – making processes smarter, faster and more valuable.

One of Paul’s key responsibilities will be building and improving the best data asset in the music industry and help make products that will enable fair pay for every play for creators.
