London, 23rd February 2023 23 February: Part of the Utopia Music family, Proper Music Group’s distribution arm, Proper Music Distribution (PMD), has received The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the UK’s most prestigious business Award, in a ceremony at its warehouse.
Following recommendation by the Prime Minister and approval by Her Majesty The Queen before her passing, the Award was given for excellence in the International Trade category. Recognising outstanding growth in overseas trade across the past three years, PMD’s exports increased by 85% over that period, growing to nearly a quarter of the company’s turnover.
To mark the distinguished occasion, the ceremony was attended by Lord-Lieutenant of Kent, The Lady Colgrain, Mr Kelvin Holford, one of the Lord-Lieutenant’s Deputy Lieutenants, Ms Jo Holmes, Deputy Clerk to the Kent Lieutenancy and Lewis Gilbert, Cadet Inspector. The Lord-Lieutenant is the British monarch’s personal representative in each lieutenancy area of the United Kingdom.
The Lady Colgrain formally awarded the crystal and scroll after a welcome speech by Drew Hill, MD of Proper Music Group and VP of Distribution at Utopia Music. Following the presentation, the Lord Lieutenant was invited to meet company staff over afternoon tea.
With only 141 awards for International Trade made in 2022, from 225 organisations recognised, the accolade cements Proper’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading physical music distributors.
