Tokischa included in Foundry’s class of 2021

YouTube Music's Foundry is a project designed to support emerging artists from around the world. Its class of 2021 is the largest to date.

Estonia, 18th August 2021 To find the origin of Foundry we must go back to 2015. It was then when YouTube Music organized a series of workshops and tutorials with the aim that emerging artists could achieve greater exposure. An action far from being trivial if we take into account the great weight that music has within the online video world. Six years later, Foundry has evolved into a successful global program that has helped more than 150 independent artists. Among them are names like Arlo Parks, Dave, Dua Lipa, HARDY, Omar Apollo, Rosalia and Tems. And its growth continues. The platform has just announced the class of 2021, being the largest that has been released to date. We are talking about a total of 27 independent artists from a wide range of genres from 14 different countries around the world. In fact, YouTube Music states that this year has been by far the one that they have received the most requests. “This group of artists are building their careers independently, developing communities that give them the freedom they need to grow on their own terms. We are very proud to do our part in the development of independent talent and will continue to support them every step of the way.” The class of 2021, which includes the Dominican artist Tokischa, will receive professional advice from YouTube experts as well as funding. A combination of access to resources and equipment gives the artists the chance for their music to achieve greater impact and global reach. “My music has no labels. It is a new and free wave. I’m excited to be able to stand out in countries that are so far away from my culture,” says Tokischa. Alongside the Dominican artist, the class of 2021 also includes: Ambar Lucid (USA), Bad Milk (Colombia), Bella Shmurda (Nigeria), Blessd (Colombia), chilldspot (Japan), Doul (Japan), Ebhoni (Canada), Enny (UK) Fana Hues (USA), Junior Mesa (USA), Marina Sena (Brazil), Meekz (UK), Paranoid 1966 (Spain), Paris Texas (USA), Raveena (USA), Reggie (USA), Rote Mütze Raphi (Germany), SE SO NEON (Korea), Seedhe Maut (India), Shygirl (UK), Sinéad Harnett (UK), Snail Mail (USA), SoFaygo (USA), Sycco (Australia), Tenille Arts (USA) and Tuyo (Brazil).
